I noticed that they make 0W30 synthetic oil. Is this a better oil for turbo cars. It's castrol syntec i think. I'm still not sure whats the best oil to use in our cars.

Mobile 1 fully synthetic 15w 50 - made for turbo cars

Mobil 1 makes full synthetic 0W30 too, and it's fine for a normal car that isn't driven very hard. On a turbo car, that oil has to withstand a LOT of heat, so you wnat the toughest you can get away with, which is why Mobil 1 15W30 is the best there is for turbo/supercharged vehicles.

0w30 oil might make your car start easily, but it wont be good for your car. you engine will wear more!

i've tried using 0w-50 from mobil 1, it says it's european formula and for turbocharged cars. i noticed a big difference in performance than from 15w50 mobil 1. but then i noticed it leaks very quickly. after like 2 1/2 weeks, my oil level was almost empty. so i figured i'll stick to heavier oil. but i stayed at 10w30. i still get better performance than 15w50. it also depends what climate you live at. since i'm in FL, it's necessary to have heavier oil.

If you realy want to use the 0W30 oil, I'd reccomend using it only in the winter (and if the winters where you are located are very cold) since that low intital weight will help cold weather lubrication. But, there is no advantage if it's not very cold at startup, and it might be a problem as an oil with that light of a cold weight might not stand up to abuse in a turbocharged engine.

lots of new little engines these days are designed for the light oil too. for an older zx2 it's recommended to run 5w30
but newer ones say 5w20, and I thought i heard heard focii were comming out now with a recommended (from manufacturer) to run a 0w20 oil!?! crazy stuff..

but in a turbo car... i'd NEVER use oil that light.

you guys should use Delo400 15w40 like I use in my turbo diesel.. stuff is cheap and WAY heavy considering the weight rating.. hehe.

although i heard there was an issue with running diesel formulated oils on cars with aluminum parts, and your only supposed to use it on all cast iron motors.

YEah, for winter I use 5w30 (didn't know there was a 0w30) just for cold start ups and what not. But summer time I use 15w50.

I'm not turbo yet, when I go turbo I won't do that anymore :)

The lower weight for the higher rating (the 20 in the 5w20 oil) helps with fuel economy, which is why Ford is designing their engines (from the 4cyl in the focus to the v8 in the lincoln LS) to use it. I don't see using that light of an oil for fuel economy as worth it for a turboed car though.

i use 5w30 yr round .. for cold starts i have noticed that a little oil into the engine right beore u crank it makes her start a little easier

0W30 is quite light. I'd be wary to use that in a turbocharged car.

5w30 fully synthetic with mopar oil filters for me. eclipse gets whatever is on sale :)
