66651, back and forth with gas

Is it good for your car if you get different gas each time? like i usually get just regular, but would it be safe to start just getting premium, and is it safe on your car to switch back between octaines like that?

It is safe. If you are pretty much stock, you should just stick with the 87 octane recommended in the manual. You have no need for higher octane. It burns slower to prevent detonation, which occurs when you dump more air and fuel into the combustion chamber, such as with turbo, nitrous or high comp.

Check the search man, it can help a lot. :thumbsup

Only in this discussion is that really true. Haha.

I've got the 10.5:1 running now and since I got those lower numbers a few weekends back, I've been running 87 since. You shouldn't notice any differences in performance between octanes unless you have an EGT gauge imo. I would image EGTs would be higher running the lower octane under more pressure.

There was an in depth discussion like a few years ago about this. So here is the truth. If your car ran piss poor on 87 octane than it was either your car or you imagination, the fact is lower octane gas has more energy than higher octane and that you can get better fuel economy with lower octane and even better economy with 87 on 10.5:1CR, raising the compression raises efficiency and power, the only downfall is the low ability of 87 octane's knock resistance.
