65706, Squeaking Noise On Left Side Of Engine Bay
Posted by EclipseTenzoR, Jan-02-04 07:53 PM
I hear a noise on the left side of my engine bay when my car is running.. Is this my timing belt going? If it is how much does it cost to get this changed and aren't there peformance pulleys you can get put in there? How much power does that give you?

Thanks In Advance

A squeaking noise on the left side of your engine bay eh? Are you sure it's not just your other belts? Or cars tend to squeak a lot, especially in wet weather.

EDIT: No, I don't think your timing belt would be sqeaking. It's something else.

Ok.. Thanks.. I deff know that its coming from the left side tho.. I am a noob at all this stuff but is the power steering on that side too? I can hear that strugglin noise or a diff squeak when im turning hard on my steering wheel.. Could I need to change my Power Steering fluid?

Thanks In Advance Again

The squeaking noise is probably from the power steering or alternator belt. You can easily tighten the p/s belt, but to tighten the alternator (if loose), you'll have to jack up the car. It's a pita, unless you have rachet wrenches.

I had the bearing in my tensioner pulley take a crap and it squeaked as well. Not the timing belt one the accy. one.
