65375, Serious problem...I think Posted by BumpinTool, Dec-27-03 03:13 PM
I swapped out my shifter a while back, and since then, I've had a problem hitting 2nd gear, and especially during every day driving. I thought it was the shifter, but my dad said it could be the synchronizer. And he's pretty sure that it is. Is there any place I can get one cheap and reliable? And how hard is it to put on? Any help is much appreciated. The grinding is really getting on my nerves.

a syncro is a pice inside your tranny. As in pull out the tranny and tear it apart. And while you are doing that you might as well do a rebuild.

surely it can be repaired easier than that? or is it? i've never had to do any tranny work before.

try changing out your tranny fluid. try putting your stock shifter back in? did it do it before?

change tranny fluid use MOPAR Manual TRANSAXLE fluid.
bleed clutch line
change to stock shifter and buy some upgraded shifter bushings...
if this doesn't fix it time for some new synchros.
meaning pull tranny tear apart and repair...
or drive easy. and buy a used tranny for under 500$

well the shifter i put in there was an RS shifter. mine's a GS. something was wrong with the threads on mine and i couldn't get the knob off so i got another one when i went to see the idiot in boston. so i'll try just putting mine back in, and the other suggestions you guys mentioned. the transmission shouldnt be fucking up. its only got 55k on it. and i didn't start grinding 2nd til i switched out the shifter so maybe it's just a combination of the things everybody said. oh yeah, speaking of the idiot in boston, i need gray seat belt buckles for the front. i paid him for them when i drove 18 hours up there to get a bunch of stuff, but he just doesnt want to send them down here. and that was 2 months ag. so if somebody can hook me up, i'd be greatful. im in 35016 by the way.
