Tonight I wired up the st-st-stutter box function of my msd dis2. It has 2 wires, 1 for each stage. One is for burnouts and the other is for launching. Basically when you give the launch wire 12vdc the dis2 will limit your revs to whatever you set it to with your PC, mine is at 3k. I built a circut with a LED, a momentary buttion and a switch. The switch selects which rev limiter (launch or burnout), the buttion enables it, and the led lights when it's active. I built the circut thinking I could get a ground off one of the leads from the clutch switch when the pedal was pushed, I was wrong. It seems the buttion is normaly closed, and open when you push the clutch. I taped the ground wire to the pedal so when I push it, the wire grounds to the frame. But that's ghetto as hell, I don't want to leave it like that. The reason I built the circut like this is so that I don't have to turn the limiter off, it shuts off as soon as I release the clutch pedal. The ghetto way is working so far, and boy is it fun! }(

So does anyone have any idea what to do? I know I could hook up a relay, but I don't want to do that. I know Thura and a few other people have a stutter box ignition. ;)

I have a Crane ignition, but I kept my hookup very simple. I just use a NOS momentary button to activate the rev limiter for launching. When it's pushed in, it turns "on" the limiter; when I release it, then it's pedal to the metal.:-)

There is a big difference between the MSD and Crane Staged Rev Limits. The biggest difference is that to activate the Rev limit on the Crane you put +12V to the Rev Limit signal. On the MSD you put the Rev limit signal to ground. It makes the Crane easier to work with in some cases but I figure you should still be able to get it to work. I don't know if a relay works by putting a ground on the "switched power" points but it couldn't hurt to try I guess.

That's interesting to have it worked with the clutch pedal like that. I think there was an article in Import Tuner or Sport Compact about a year ago. Now, the question is, which one? I think they did this with a Neon.:shrug

Hrm. On mine (the 6212) you give the line +12V dc and it will activate the limiter. So it would be the same as yours. Did you hook yours to the clutch pedal? If so how did you do it? :D

Like I said, I was expecting a ground at the clutch pedal to activate while the pedal is down, but our cars don't do this. The switch that the clutch pedal hits is closed when the pedal is up, and open when the pedal is down. The circut I built relys on the ground to be cut when the pedal is released to disable the limiter. Basically its a relay, the buttion locks the relay open and passes +12v to a 2 way switch that decides if the 12v goes to the launch or burn rev limit. So the only way do disable the rev limiter once I enable it is to drop the ground.

It's just really hard to work upside down under the dash. I don't care to fabricate something because it's such a bitch to work down there.
