what are signs that your valves are floating? thanks

I beleve you engine will start to brake up and if they float long enough say good bye to your valves.

Well, when ALL of the valves float, on the oldschool Detroit motors its like hitting a rev limiter - the engine will simply not rev past a certain point.

If it's just one that starts to float then engine performance will noticably decrease at the float point. On an interference engine like ours its possible to do some valve damage if one floats to much. If you're really worried about it, pull the valve cover and push hard on the springs with your thumbs. You sholdn't be able to open valves by hand.
