Ive always loved the 2nd Gen DSM's, and my buddy has a Talon Tsi, so ive done some research in the past...

Anyway, i just blew the motor out on my car and theres a good chance ill be getting the following:

1995 Eclipse GS
-5 speed
-Lowered 2 inchs (geting stock springs too for inspection)
-Headwork *dont know extent, but its definetly been worked*
-Thermal Research Cat-back exhaust
-AEM cold air intake
-BIG WING (hehehe, im planning a bon-fire)

Anywho, it has 115,000 miles on it and the guy is only asking 3,000 dollars so i think im going to do my best to get it... Clean black paintjob and the car has been well taken care of.

I was thinking it should be around 150hp maybe a lil more if the headwork is good. What do you guys think?

yea that sounds about right to me. Maybe even as high as 160? sounds like a nice car:thumbsup

Heh im still workin on gettin the 3 grand, i know i can get the money but time is the issue... i think my grandad is going to give me cash for it when i go up there the day after christmas, on the condition that i pay him back ASAP, which im gunna do... selling my old car for 1,000 (1995 Grand Prix SE, i blew the engine running a 100hp WET shot of nitrous)

Please dont give me shit about the nitrous, i did it right, NX wet shot, on a v-6 so it could handle the 100 shot... What happened is unfortunately there are no precautions to take to prevent fuel puddling in the intake manifold...

Long story short i waited till second gear, hit it, got slammed into my seat, then BOOM! a white puff of smoke shot out from the hood and the motor completely locked up...

Thats why although people say the eclipse could hold 50hp, im just plain scared shitless off the stuff now... i cant afford to blow another motor.

Heh, i figure 500 dollars could do nicely towards future mods for the eclipse, i would like to go ALL MOTOR with it but it seems with the Lotus designed cylinder head its hard to get much more power without a turbo, so i think im gunna slowly save up and go that route.

But until then ive heard some good things about turbo cams :)


One more question though, IIRC the fuel cutoff is at 7,400 rpms or so on the 420A right?

i think rev limiter is at 7400 rpm and fuel cut is at 7800 rpm. I am not 100% sure on those numbers though. And good luck with your eclipse, you're getting a good deal.

sounds good. 3000 is sorta low but for that kind of money you could prolly fix whatever might break. even with a shortblock you'd spend around 5k.

i think 3k for the year/mileage sounds like a good deal and you do seem to be getting the car with knowledge of the car before hand which is always good too. like ^ said, another $2k and you would be able to put a new engine in it and have a like new car again which is a steal. goodluck with it.

Im not too worried about the engine, my GP had 138,000 miles on it with about 3,000 beeing sprayed before it went....

But i spoke to my boss at the gym and she has known the owner for a while, she said i could trust him to not rip me off, or she would deal with him lol.

Going to testdrive the car on saturday, i went and saw it in person today, the black paintjob is almost flawless, stock rims but it still looks sexy with a 2inch drop.

rev limiter/fuel cut are @ 7200rpm on my ride, which is a 98GS MTX.

rev limiter is 7200/7300 on mine
