64766, New mod: IATS fooler. Posted by Mystic511, Dec-15-03 01:51 PM
I don't any details, but my friend living in florida said there is some company down there who is making a performance mod. Basically it modifies the intake air temperature sensor and tricks the engine into thinking it's colder then it is. Of course that'll make the car run leaner and supposedly give it a horsepower boost.
He said the company claims 10-15 horsepower and he's installing it on his car.
I know these kinds of mods exists, honda people have been doin it for ages. I just wanna hear all your feedback.
I'll try to get more info about this potentially new mod.

They sell that crap on e-bay, have been for years. it's crap and a complete waste of money. You can do the same thing with a $.20 resistor from AutoZone, but it's not gonna help any. Colder air needs MORE fuel, which means your car will just run richer. You might get a little more timing advance out of it (yeah, like, 1*, if that) but the over rich mixture is going to sap that little power gain right back out.
Basically, it's stupid, and the people that push it should be kicked in the face.

Yea? You try searching for "IATS fooler" and see if you get any hits. Like i said, i didn't know the details about the product so I threw it out for people who knew better to answer.
Plus, no offense to you, but in my 2+ years of being here, I've never seen a single post about a product like it. So save your "pls do a search" for threads that really deserve that being said.
The above wasn't meant to sound angry, it was just stated matter-of-factly. I don't mean to flame anyone. ;)
Thanks for the info dino, I guess i should make some phone calls to my friend.:thumbsup
