64741, a couple questions (i have searched) Posted by rydereclipse, Dec-15-03 07:53 AM
how many foot lbs do you torque down the cam gears, and how do you get the torque wrench in there to do it? And how do you stop them from rotating or destroying the belt (AEM gears)? And i just replaced the timing belt and i lined everything up, gave it a couple rotations, and it all still lined up, the question i have is the tensioner doesnt seem to have moved alot out of the bore, i have tension on the belt, and can rotate it and it all lines up ok, but i am worried one i put it under load that the tension wont be there anymore, any suggestions? btw i remarked the gears and have it all timed good just need some advice.:shrug

Try refining your search to Timing Belt FAQ.

i read it is supposed to have 20 ft lbs preload, but i just put the tensioner against the tensioner pulley and applied pressure, and then torqued the tensioner bolts down, it seems to be tensioning fine and timing seems to be ok i just like would some opinions, about what will happen under load.
