64626, Cold Weather,... Engine won't stay On..... Posted by gilee_8, Dec-12-03 05:00 PM
Sup guys. This is been a while. It's for my g/f Black Eclipse. Anyway, I did a compression test for my car and her car about 2 weeks ago. So it drained alot of power from the battery already. Then she have'nt drive her car at all after that compression test for about 3-4 days.
Then Snow storms, very cold temperature. Now the car won't stay on when I start the car. The engine will die away as soon as I start the car IF I DON"T KEEP MY FEET ON THE GAS. But after a while (sometimes a min, some times after the car warms up complete, sometimes take 20 mins) before I can let go of my feet and the engine will stay up.
Also once I drove on the highway (after this happened) for about 15-20 mins then the next day, the car works .....then after thta it died again. Is that the battery is old? alternator? or just not charged?
THanks. GIl

You pretty much answered your own question.
It sounds like your alternator is bad, and your battery is on it's way out too.

you sure it's bad? coz otherwise, why after I started my car for a while, it charges up again? Or is it just that I haven'et drive the car long enough? THanks.
