FINALLY my car is up and running good. It has been months since the car ran good, after shitty installs done by bad shops. But anyway I fixed most of the problems this week and now she runs good.

My latest mod is the AFX ECU. My car is a 96 MT by the way, running a 97 reprogrammed ECU. I love this ECU. The ECU and cam combo is nasty. The car really pulls hard and can spin real easy, even with my LSD and fresh tires. The ECU does let you rev all the way up to 8200rpm.

Here is a run down of what happens when i stomp on it.

1k-3k: car pulls good
3k-5.5k: the cams are starting to come alive,car is pullying real good
5.5k-7k: cams are screaming, car is flying like a mofo
7k-8.2k: weird sound from engine bay, kinda like a machine gun firing and is cop pulling me over loud, engine is still pullying hard.

This is a nice NA setup, but one this is missing, Intake Manifold. Indy and custom fabricators please hurry up.

My car runs alot better with this ECU than that stock 97 ECU, and my stock 96 ECU sucked (constant CEL for high idle). My cam gears are set at O,O too, cant wait for a good dyno tune.

I havent taken her out there yet. But before the ECU was isntalled i was walking away from 1tuffrs. He ran a 15.4

hey your AFX ECU, is that like the JET V Force? Where did u get it and $? What exactly is it..like an entire rebuilt computer, or just something that plugs into it or am I way off?

its nothing like the jet v force, its a new ecu that replaces ur stocker. howellautomotive.com is where u can get it.

how much work was it to get the ECU to work since it's a 96? no problems with it?

yea dude, good call, this might be the next thing on my list if you are saying that a 97 ecu works on a 96 talon.

I ran Steve's 97 computer on my car for like 4 months. No CEL or any issues. I then had it sent off to howell for the reprogram and it runs fine just like before. My car is a MT with the fuel filter under the car and with the old style coil pack.

My major use to be Electrica engineering before i changed to mechanical engineering. My teacher and I looked at the wiring diagrams and both came to the conclusion it would work and it did.
