Ive been driving a 97 eclipse GS for a while now, and i love it. because christmas is coming up and im only 17, ive started to make an xmas list. heres what i have so far

1. AFX UDP - apparently this is the cheapest, easiest way to gain some horsepower. however i would need to have it installed at some shop, how much would this cost? i also heard that if i planned to go turbo in the future, i could keep the pulley on? is this correct?

2. Screamin demon coil and 8.5 mm MSD wires - this seems a little more practical for a stupid 17 yr old kid (me)- its relatively inexpensive and easier to install. from reading several reviews it seems these are some of the best coil/wires around, is this true?

of course theres the intake and exhaust but i do plan on turboing eventually so wouldnt getting these just be a waste in the long run? also, any other ideas for mods that can stay on after the turbo?

Get an AEM cold air intake. Easy to install. Good gains for what you pay. Check out the For Sale section. Someone was selling two.

it's not the cheapest and easiest, but close enough, and you can leave it on when you go turbo

they're a good setup, but if there is nothing wrong with your stock wires and your stock coil, then there really isn't much of a reason to change those now

If you wanted, you could pick up a used cold air intake and a gs-t muffler.... and it might cost you a grand total of, at most, $150 or so

You would be surprised at how easy it can be to change that pulley yourself. I would bet a shop would want at least $150 to install it unless your brother owned it or something.

If you have no tools, you should go to Sears and pick up a basic set of sockets. With a 10mm and a 12mm, you can replace damn near everything on your car. :P You're looking at about a 2 hour job to change the pulley out yourself. You make a deposit at AutoZone for the puller, take it home, pull your belts, loosen the one center bolt, install your puller, and crank the old off. While you're doing that, you have the UDP baking in the oven. When you're ready, grab some mits and slap the UDP on the crank. Pound it down if you need to with a softer hammer (like copper or something - if not, just use a piece of wood), then put your new belts on. Now you know how to cahnge your alternator and power steering belts and you walk away knowing you did it yourself. You can do it man. :thumbsup

Check the sale/wanted section though. I think you'll find metter quality and service than you would from eBay. If you get i/h/e, you might look into an oversized tb, like the Jeep...

thanks dude....i thought you needed a lot more tools than that. i have a bunch of friends in autotech that would love to help, and like all of us im sure ive had to put the power steering (alternator?) pulley back on once... thanks man
