yes there is and USE IT!

DR1665 accidentally left it out and it leaked like a mother fucker. run4cvr and DR1665's had to completely tear down the motor again to fix it.

the o-ring was on the side by the crank pully right? by the front of the engine, not by the rear main seal?

for the bed plate junction itself requires anaerobic sealer. the little hole above the oil filter block, requires an O-ring. Do not forget this Oring as it is an annoying leak that you will have it not present.

And don't screw up (like me) twice, and install the wrong o-ring. :+

There's two pink o-rings in the Howell rebuild kit that will fit. You want the thinner one. The fat one works too, but it's harder to torque the bedplate down evenly.

interesting about the thin pink o ring. I got the gasket kit from Bob Kise's shop. I had the one fattie orange. Worked fine for me, but I wonder....

Hey DR where did the oil leak from when you were without that o-ring?

If that ring was not there, it would leak by the oil filter/ filter adapter. The bedplate's sealant that is used, goes on the inside of this o ring, and it would just leak oil out right there, and may even have low oil pressure too...

Hey DR drop me a pm with your ph# or something, I want to talk to you a little more about that leak and where the oil ended up.

You know, the more I think about it... I probably used the wrong ring after all. I ordered the upper gasket kit from Bob Kise and them. Why would the o-ring for the bedplate to block be included in that kit? And furthermore, if I used this o-ring in the wrong place, where the hell am I missing an o-ring?

Six months later and I can smell ownage...

:rolleys

Kirby - you have PM.

Some refresher pics for dat ass?
The O-ring we used in the place we used it (but before cleaning of the bedplate/block to reapply the anaerobic sealant)

A close-up of the actual O-ring in the block right now. If it's leaking, I can't tell... :P
