ok, so recently here in cincy the temp. has dropped a good amount outside (i think its like 31 degrees outside...)

well since this has occured, my car is starting to act strange. this is the second winter i've had it and last year i had no problems with it.

well when i fire it up.... theres something going on underneath the timing cover that i need to figure out, becuase either one of the cam gears (stock) or timing belt itself is rubbing against it, but it isnt constant, its like a steady whistle. and i know its coming from the timing cover because if i push the timing cover towards the valve cover, it goes away, but i cant hold it there every time i start up my car, you know? and also once i hit 70 mph it makes a constant whistling noise from the engine bay, cant tell where its coming from, but it may or may not be related...

i guess my question is, is there any way to move the timing cover closer to the valve cover? (an idea i had was to hack it off above where the cam gears are, im getting adjustable ones soon...) anyone got any ideas or had this happen to them before? i'd really appreciate any feedback

Mine does the same thing but only when it's -20 or more. Pull the front of the timing cover off and and make sure the bolts that hold the rear of the cover on are tight.

if it is only rubbing on the top inspection cover part, just take it off IMO. that should fix your problem. if it is rubbing farther down on the lower timing belt covers, you may need to tear the car apart to look around.
