S'up!

I'm buying a SAFC2 off a member here in the next few days (just waiting for my money sir!) and I'm primarily just going to need it to lean out my idle once the 18s go in next spring. 2 questions:

1 - I have never used one before, nor seen one tuned or in use, am I correct to assume that if I install it and leave the settings at 0% correction across the board that it will not alter factory settings and I won't do any damage to the engine from leaning it out before I get my A/F adn EGT in?

2 - Aside from a concealed installation, how do ensure this kick-ass little instument mounted to the steering column isn't a welcome invitation to have my car broken into in th night? I hate to ask it again, but I'd like to see pics of any installation of an AFC that is really unique. I'm just going to mount mine to the steering column unless I get some better ideas, you know? I would search for those threads with the pics, but I imagine they are no longer hosted in the same locations and would be a thread of red x's.

As always, any and all help is very much appreciated. Now I must go get some turkey... :9

I just bent the bracket so it slides in between the plastic around the center vents. Then slide it out and put it in the glovebox.

Yes zero correction will pass the MAP signal unaltered through to the ECU.

and carbonwerx.com makes a carbon fiber mount for the safc that replaces the center vents above the radio...think it also holds a gauge or turbo timer or something....i forget cuz i havent seen it in a while.

I want to keep the funtionality of all my vents. AZ + summer - AC vents = NOT WORTH IT! :o

I like the idea of just unhooking it and putting it in the glovebox. Kinda ghetto, but my neighborhood is starting to turn sort of ghetto these days, so I guess when you're in Rome...

Now, I thought of another question for you guys.

Since I will also be running the AFX ECU too, how will the two likely interract? I mean, they say the Howell ECU will learn your mods and then adjust A/F etc. as it thinks is requiered, so will it try to compete with this SAFC? I'm planning on installing the ECU and the SAFC the same day, but leaving the SAFC at the 0% correction across the board. Maybe by spring when I get all the gauges, I'll have a better idea of how the two play together.

Input? Generalizations? :P

i fabricated a plate to go over the pocket under the radio, mine is velco'd to that so i can pull it off if i feel the need...if you want a pic i'll email one to you..
Mike

also have some friends that wedged the mounting holder under the vents that way they can angle it to themselves...i would velco it to something that way if you don't feel comfortable leaving it in the car you can pull it out and take it with you...and the bonus to that is if you really need the afc to make your car run, then you don't have to worry bout somebody stealing it cause it will run like crap!!!! good luck
