63654, Interesting CEL Dilemma..... Posted by Nitrous_RS1997, Nov-25-03 01:03 PM
My car has been running fine now for about 8 months with no problems whatsoever. Going down the road today, it stuttered in 5th, kinda like a mini fuel cut...but not as severe. anyways, i have gotten code 61 ever since i had my SAFC on, but i recently took the SAFC off and sold it about 2 months ago. the CEL went away for about 4 days after taking the SAFC off...then it came back on again and hasnt went off. here are the codes its throwing in order. 72(dunno what that is) 14, 24(both MAP or TPS related) 61(dunno what that is), then the CEL light will stay on solid for about 2 seconds, then blink 7 times after that. then it ends with a 55. ive taken off the MissingLink and cleaned it out, even though it wasnt very dirty. i dont wanna just start replacing stuff without trying to narrow it down. Could my MAP or TPS have taken a crap here lately and that cause the slight stutter? thanks for any insight guys.

I'll give you a bump just because I'm having CEL issues myself and could use some good karma. :P
I honestly have no idea whats up with your CEL sir, but look on the bright side: at least I'm not Dino making that statement! LOL!
Good luck to you.

I think the first thing I would do is either get a datalogger so you can read the real codes(the P-xxxx codes) - or take it to someplace that can read them. Other than that - do you know that the MAP and TPS sensors are giving bad values. Hook up a volt meter to them and check the output. It's interesting that both are reporting voltage too high - kind of makes me think(stab in the dark here) that it would be something to do with the electrical system in general - like the regulator or something like that has gone bad?

Everyone should be aware that Autozone gives free CEL tests and can give u a printout of the codes and what they are related too. I visit them bi-weekly. Goodluck. :cheers
