Under the lifters is correct. They need to have a hole so oil can pass through them. Make sure the are all the smae thickness too. Good luck, if you have any other questions post here or try to get me via AIM or email.

Whats your email? mine is Talon95Stang@cs.com
How much should I get my head milled????(.010)
Thanks alot!! I'm going to get my head milled and a 3 angle valve job done tommorrow for $100. Do you think I should get my head ported and polished? or just get my intake ported and polished. The shop wants $400 to port and polish my head. I think I'm just going to mill my head and get the valves done.

Milling amount depends on the compression increase you want. You probably wouldn't even notice .010 of milling. Here are some static compression numbers on a stock gasket (.040"): .068" mill= 11.5 .053" mill= 11:1 .039" mill= 10.6
These numbers work in 2 two ways. Milling/gasket thickness is one in the same. It's all about taking volume away from the combustion chamber. Our engine, stock, has a combustion chamber of about 51cc. If you reduce that then compression is raised.
If you go to the extreme on the milling then you will HAVE to have cam gears to fix the cam timing which will be off. Usually around .050 of milling and the cams will be off 1 tooth. You should have cam gears with regrind cams anyways.

Port and Polish is a good thing to do. If you can afford it, do it so you don't have to take the head apart again to do it later.

If you have them poort and polish the head, I reccommend havign them gasket match everything... again so you don't tear it parrtt later
