63073, Got my car back....bad news Posted by xcasbonx, Nov-14-03 07:21 AM
If anyone saw the post I made a couple weeks ago my car was up in Holland, Michigan. I ended up getting a trailor a week later and getting it home. The car is making a serious clanking/knocking noise throughout the rpms. I thought it was going to be a broken lifter, spring, or valve, but to my avail I found out today that I blew it :( According to my mechanic, (used to work at a dodge dealership and has worked with DSM's before) he says theres a piston slapping the head. In other words, I no longer have a vehicle to drive.
Anyway, I have taken the car to my buddies garage where it plans to sit all winter. I am debating on rebuild options. Im considering the FTY 2.0 shortblock. The car will be turbocharged as well in the future. Would this be my best bet? I know a lot of you guys have dealt with blowin engines and probably a lot worse than mine.
I plan on dropping the oil pan tomorrow and inspecting the block for damages. Can anyone give me a lil more insight as what to look out for while inspecting? Thanks for your help.
