one of my friends in my auto tech class told me that both my and his car have the worst computers and that it throws outrageous CEL's..

now please let me know if he is right or not..

and if it true, do you think i can juss swap in the 1999 computer into our cars?

umm, never heard of that. actually.....the 97 is the best right now because its the only one that can use the afx modified ECU. and no, you cant just swap in a 99 or any other year for that matter. all year ecu's cept for 98 and 99 are slightly different. your ecu may not be the problem...if its throwin CEL's then check out what they mean. it dosent just throw them for fun...it means something is screwed up. trace the code, fix it, and if you wanna replace your stock ecu shell out the $$ and get the AFX one.

hey thanks.. but it seems like all the problems that i fix from the CEL it seems to show up again.. i spent about 300 bucks to fix all the CEL problems from GLENDALE MITSUBISHI.. i prolly got ripped off huh?

the 95s have the WORST ecu's out of the bunch. many have gone wacko on this board.

OOh OOh...i have a 95 and i think mine is going nuts too!!! Been having problems for two years and i STILL cant figure it out..damn ecu!

guess what just happened? now when the car is warmed up, the rpm meter jumps around like crazy.. and the speedometer jumps around too for a minute then drops to 0 mph.. man i cant take this bs from this car.. any ideas? :shrug

check the speed sensor, its right on top of the trany next to the rear engine mount.

Cool another SoCal 2gnt memeber. If you need to use the datalogger I got one. We can hook it up and see if its the sesor or guages.

My ecu went crazy one me too (I have a 95). My car would just go dead at random. Very VERY annoying in the middle of a big intersection with an assload of cars blowing horns at you ;( . It sucked until I get another one off of ebay for $50. :bowdown Ebay
