ok guys... just got my car back from the mechanic today. It was sent in to do the timing belt change. when i got it and warmed it up it felt fine and just like before. so i leave and head home. when its fully warm and i stop at a stoplight, something weird happens at idle... it sounds almost like its sputtering, and it makes faint grinding(for lack of better words)sound about twice every second. and for every sputter(twice per sec) i can feel the car bounce ever so slightly... take note it only does this at a dead stop idle. when revved its feels normal. acceleration feels normal. just this weird idle. the rev needle vibrates a little too.. my question- is this serious? does the timing need to be adjusted or is my poor car damaged? bent valves? whats going on with my car? no check engine light... HELP ME PLEASE!! IM HURTIN!! thank you guys

The mechanic put your belt on wrong, He missed a tooth when he put it over the cam gears. Just take is back and he should fix it no problem.

Why is it so freaking hard for Mechanics* to install a timing belt?

Hey now, not all of them are so bad. My dad has been a small town mechanic for god knows how many years. He always pays close attention to everything he does, especially critical things such as timing and engine rebuilding, and he doesn't take his time just to get more $$$ for labor. And on a side note, yes he is one of the many "satans" you speak of. Back in the day he was a Crysler, Plymouth, Dodge, Jeep & Eagel certified mechanic. Now of course just down to Chrysler, Dodge & Jeep. And since I'm in the mood for bragging he also has several awards for Five Star Service. Ok I'm done you may now tell me how much you hate me cuz i'm the son of satan and get good deals, or because I'm an annoying bragging little bitch.:shrug But seriously you have your good mechanics and you have your bad mechanics, just like in any other profession.:P
