62597, A/C System removal.
Posted by Dirty, Nov-04-03 02:03 PM
I've decided. I got to much shit in my engine bay and I also will need some intercooler room when I start installing my turbo shit.

What all can be removed from the a/c system? I need the heater and the defroster to work (without the a/c) but I want to remove everything I can.

You can remove everything in the engine bay if you want. Follow the lines that go into the firewall into the car, and you can cut them off there, and cap them off, or just disconnect the lines where you can, but you will have lines just laying there. I wouldn't cut the lines, just incase you want to put it back in for any reason..You could just remove the condensor(in front of the radiator), and the compressor, and just leave the rest of the lines in there...

I'd say get to and undo the lineas at the condensor. Yes this will suck, they are inside the car under the dash, I don't think you can get to the connections from the engine bay, I maybe wrong.

Then pull the compressor and lines out, make sure you depressurize the system before you do anything. Then if you want send the compressor and bracket to me :P

I'll probably keep all my shit just incase. I've had the car for 3 years and only used it when my wife threatened me on a road trip. I want be taking it on road trips anymore so fuck the a/c!

Is there anything I can use the condensor for? Would coolant run through there? That wouldn't be a bad idea for an extra radiator for you coolant for the turbo, if it would work. I also have my tranny cooler mounted on there.

You cant use the condensor for coolant :( Oh and mike, I believe you are talking about the "evaporator" that is on the inside of the car :P
