blown head gasket, a weekend if you know what you are doing, and have all the tools, sockets, torque wrench, pully puller, and alot of bandaids. a shop will charge around 500 just in labor, id shop around for the best price. while you are in there, replace the timing belt, ps/ac belt, and alt belt, waterpump.

Don't put the head back on withoutgetting it to a mxchine shop to check the deck to see if it's level or needs to be milled.

The deck (top of block) is iron an rarely needs to be machined, just remove all gasket material off of it by polishing it with 400 grit sand paper with movements in the same direction.

The head on the other hand almost always needs to be machined flat when you take it off, it's aluminum and there will be imperfections. It costs typically $20-25.

Be sure to use copper headgasket sealant on the headgasket right before you put it on.
