well, i about two weeks ago i went over a center divider (dont ask), but yes, i messed up the bottom of the car, i basically ripped the exhaust & dp off pretty bad, my 2 O2 sensors ripped, punctured a radiator steel hose, killed the battery somehow..hopefully not the alternator, but my question is this, i fixed the whole exhaust along with the dp, and bought a new battery, cuz the old one didnt work. as i was driving home from school today, i had the music on, and the car just shut off!?? the music was still on, so i know it wasnt a dead battery, then i parked it, and it turned back on just fine! what could this be? car has not been the same since the wreck!

by the way, im still rolling with no O2 sensors on the dp and exhaust! any suggestions are appreciated. thanks!

not having any o2 sensors would screw up the ECU. Not break it or anything but theres no signal telling air/fuel mix.......I don't know if this would cause it to stall but maybe?? someone wanna enlighten us?:thumbsup

Umm... yeah... Get at the bare minimun the front O2 sensor in now. The car has no idea how to deliver fuel and what is needed. It's taking a wild guess as to how much fuel to put in and there are no adjustments. You stalled out at idle because the ECU was probably running injectors wide open and you drown the engine in gas.

And please for the love of God, and all that is holy stay out of boost. The only driving you should be doing is to the parts store to get an O2, and if you can drive something else to the store I would. This can seriously mess up your car, especially being boosted.

He has to be talking about the rear o2 sensor. Car won't even run without the front one. And how are you going to break that one off going over a curb or whatever?

the front o2 sensor is what gives info for the car/ecu to run. without it the car is like what is going on.. go buy that front o2 sensor now

oh damn! thanks for telling me guys, i drove today again to work, and my car stalled 5 TIMES!! oh and yeah i ripped both O2 sensors off! the one from the DP & the one from the exhaust. all 4 wheels went over that center divider, and i even made a Huge dent on my gas tank! suprised it didnt even break. But yeah, off to the store for that sensor i go!! thanks a lot guys!:thumbsup

Sure it will.. However, without O2 feedback, the ECU goes into open loop. it just provides fuel per its base map with no O2 correction at all. In a nutshell, it runs ugly rich, all the time, but it runs. It'd fix it ASAP if i were you.

well, havent bought the sensors, but have not driven the car, those things are freaken expensive, got money today. just had one final question: will any O2 sensor work? i mean does the year diff matter? cuz the 95 sensors are less expensive then the 96+. just wanna make sure!
