for a few months now my coolant gauge would keep rising up, but on my datalogger my temp is 196-205 when the temp on the gauge is going on. so i replaced the sensor ( the thin one ) for the gauge near the rad cap and the gauge would not rise for about 2-3weeks give or take. then out of the blue it will start all over, i have replaced the sensor twice already.. on my logger during the gauge rising it never goes over 210. and my coolant tank never boils etc. compression is great.
any advice?

There's two coolant "sensors" if that helps... one reads analog temp and another is a switch (pressure?). But I'm pretty sure the dash gauge and the ecu use the same sensor so :wary

How's your coolant levels? Any air in the system?

Could be the guage itself, may not have anything to do with the sensor, but just the mechanics of the guage.

how can you replace the coolant gauge in the dash? i have not open up my dash in a while so i dont remember well. coolant level is cool, as far as i know there is no air in the coolant, how do i check that?

There are two sensors. They both are thermistor types that change resistance based on temperature. The gauge in the dash uses the thin one with one wire. The ECU uses the big one with two wires. The ECU uses the more accurate and expensive sensor. Thats all I know. I can't offer any advice on fixing the situation. :(

the one i always replace and the gauge works fine for 2-3 weeks is the thin one the cheaper one.

Be sure your wiring connection on the sensor is clean, and tight. A bad connection can cause your problems.
