If you are going to be running high horsepower, or just doing a tuneup, I'd get it, with plugs and wires also. It generates the spark that goes to your plug, which fires the cylinder, after the air/fuel is in it. Magnecore has a good set of 8mm wires. As for plugs, NGK is the only brand I haven't fouled out yet, and a lot of people on here use them. I don't have the part number right off the top of my head, but howellautomotive.com should have the wires. The plugs you can get at Discount Auto. Hope this helps.

you will want the MSD DIS-2 or the MSD DIS-2 Programmable. the programmable is slightly more expensive, but you can connect to it with a laptop to program the ignition retarding. both units are universal for all 4 cylinder cars that don't have a distrbutor. don't get it confused with the MSD DIS-4 - that one is for 6 and 8 cylinder cars, although if that's all you can get your hands on i'm sure it will do just 4 cylinders if need be.

you will also need a tach adaptor. get it from summit racing. http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?part=MSD%2D8912
