I just thought that my '99 GS was burning oil, because I have to add some oil every now and then, but I couldn't see any blue smoke comin out the ass-pipe. When I bought the car, there was a little bit of oil in the spark plug boots, but I cleaned them out and replaced the plugs/wires and checked it for awhile after that to see if there was a problem. I didn't see any problem until I bought some oil to add today. When I popped my hood there was oil all over the valve cover and I pulled the boots. Sure as shit there was oil down inside. :thumbsdown Thinking that it's a head-gasket, any other possiblities?? :shrug I'd include some pics but I don't have a scanner or a digi-cam.

It's your spark plug well gaskets. just get a valve cover gasket kit from the dealer with the plug gaskets included. It should take you all of an hour to fix it.

Thanks Kirby, just made a call from the dealer, just under $40. Also, one more question. Since I have to replace my plugs and wires...would it be better to get some of the 8mm wires from someone like MSD, or just stick with oem since my car is bone-stock?

I would go with some OEM replacements, or get some NGK wires from your local parts store.

Yea sounds like the seals on the spark plugs. On Jason99_OZ's car we took the valve cover off today to find a pinched gasket that was letting oil in! :nono

$40 sounds a bit steep. I bought mine for 24dollars Canadian from a local parts store.

I agree, I got my felpro gasket with all the sparkplug rings for $20. Shouldn't take you more then an hour and like ^^^^ also said, just get some NGK wires. That's what I did:thumbsup

Yeah pinched gasket :( I had tons of oil in my spark plug well actually covering the entire plug. The boot was also covered in oil and my car would stutter on acceleration.

If you have already bought the gasket from the dealer, return it and get a Felpro instead, it's like 20 bucks and the design is better too! Or next time-hopefully not. Just thoroughly clean the mating surface and you should be fine!:cheers

Acctually fel-pro uses genuine chrysler parts in most of their kits. I got a main seal kit and it had the chrysler logo right on it, same with my oil pan gasket.

Well, I got the valvcover gasket and the plug well gaskets from the dealer, cost me about 38 bucks. I cleaned all the shit off my valve cover...not only was the oil inside the boots, it had worked it's way onto the top of my valve cover as well. I spent a good deal of time cleaning everything off and trying to soak all the oil outta my plug wells so I got as little oil as possible in the cylinders. I put some gasket sealer to make sure the gaskets would hold their place as I was setting the cover back on...the red rtv crap that was hi-temp and specified for use on oil pan gaskets and valve cover gaskets. Now I just gotta drive it around and make sure everything is working properly. :thumbsup Wish I had a scanner so I could take pics too, maybe someday I'll get a pic of my booghetto ride up fer my sig. :+ Thanks fer all the info all, helped out a lot.
