all of a sudden out of no where, my car started reving at idle. I noticed it happened when i turned the heater on, not the normal rev, but when i turn it on, my rpms stay at like 2k and hold it there until i turn it off. What happened?

It sounds like your IAC. I would first try taking your intake off and spraying your TB clean (with and w/o the butterfly open), and see if that fixes it. If not I'd replace your IAC.

Try unplugging your IAC with the car off, then start the car, this should not throw a CEL, but it should stop the revving of the car if it is in fact the IAC.

Clean it like the guy above me said but be sure not to adjust the solenoid when doing this.

on a side note, if the CEL comes on when you start the car it is probably because the car is not withing 200rpms of its idle speed, this is no big deal just unplug your negative battery terminal for ~15 mins and start your car and it should be gone.

my cel is always on for an evap purge solenoid, whatever that is. But today when idling it would constantly sound like i was tapping it, it would go from like 700 to 1100 then 700 to 1100 and so on:shrug

im almost 100% positive that if you buy tb and carbuerator cleaner, the napa brand(its cheap!) and spray down your tb with the butterfly open that it will fix it. my car did the exact same thing and i took the intake tube off, and let my car idle in the garage and pulled the throttle cable while spraying that cleaner in there. it will spudder a little bit for a few seconds, but you wont have anymore revving! good luck

I will try some of these myself! I get that CEL25 and the random hunting for idle too from time to time!

IF it makes you feel better my car does the exact same thing, but only when it is below its normal operational temperature. In fact I got dirty looks from an old lady cause she thought I was being an ass and revving on her :P I have yet to acertain the cause, but it does not bother me too much.
