61553, engine chocies Posted by TalonSe, Oct-15-03 03:23 PM
I have been looking for different wayz to make my nt go faster, and I have been trying to explore, engine swaps, but noone seems to no to much about nt, someone on dsmtalk.com sent me here.
getting to the point, are there anykinds of engines that will drop straight into a talon se, is there an engine that will drop in /w some minor adjustments, and what are they called? I am looking for a turbo engine, a friend of mine wants to drop in a evo3, but I heard that, that is a pain in the ass, is there something similar to that, that I could put in? Also I read on the fourms somewhere about putting an evo in a nt, and I was wondering would it make it any easier to put it in, if I got the entier front clip?
sorry for sounding like a noob, but I have a hard time putting my questions down, they sound alot better in person :(

Anywayz dude... Not to be a dick, but if u wanted engine swaps u shoulda bought a honda... The RS/GS eclipse gets shafted when it comes to swaps... Anything can be done, with the right amount of money... If ure lookin into a 4G63\4G63-T engine as I swap, I would say screw it... Ure best bet (for money, and little frustration) would be to build up ure engine (with forged internals) and put a turbo kit on there... Its not "cheap" ($2k for a stage 1), but itll add some balls to ure car... Its either that or NOS (fast and furious style)... With a straight 4 engine its really hard to build an all motor car, and more expensive than most turbo kits (by far)... And as for swaps, there is nothing that will just "drop in"... Its not like swapping a B16 into a Honda, we dont have any engines like that...
Ure best option is to search, because thats what the lazy people here tell ya (so they dont have to type everythin I just did for ya)... Look up Hanh Racecraft or Star Performace, those are the 2 big companies that make a turbo kit for the 420a (ure engine)... Good Luck, and dont be afraid to ask more "newb" questions, someone will answer... :thumbsup

what he said ^, But if your gonna invest in an engine swap, might as well build your current engine and turn up the boost with a kit.
Or...theres rumors and hints about a 2.4L swap kit comming out...? Bill?
You could get someone to fab you a mount , oil pan and rig the electronics for a 2.4L engine.

I'd say upgrade your bottom end to a PT cruisers 2.4L Stroker
or there's also a 2.6L bottom end somewhere.
I know someone who's done that and had great results.
If you do that and build up the internals/turbo you should have one fast 420a.
Here's one that ARD made...

WTB: --bolt on turbo kit (star, hahn, etc.) --rear drum to disc set up --internals ---------------HOLLA!!!

Looks like Brynden's car to me ^^^! Scary powah imo.
Your best bet would be to rebuild your engine or so the ever-growing-in-popularity 2.4L swap. There is one engine that will drop straight into a 2GNT, it's called the 420A. :shrug
