finally got around to yanking the block for a quick rebuild... snapped a few pics and thought id share. so far no major mistakes. the only casualties are 1 ps tensioner pulley bolt, a few dings on the pass. side strut tower, and a few knuckles...

thanks to xtremers for lending a hand and brain.

about to be pulled

goin up!

damn that auto tranny is HUGE. very tight fit getting it out.

whoa, matt is freaking strong! lifting it up all by himself! oh wait theres the hoist.

No, I AM that strong! I dont see no stinkin hoist :) hahha..
Yeah, I couldnt believe how big that autotrans is. It was MUCH tighter for pulling out the motor vs the manual trans. Should be fun gettin her back in! good times..

oh man, if i did that installing my transmission around my new non-modular clutch would be a SNAP... how long do you think it would take to pull the engine? i already have the transmission disconnected...

Good job man :thumbsup

That's why I always unbolt the tranny and leave it in the car. ATX is huge.

Also, if you banged up the tensioner pulley, you should probably replace the whole bracket. They're known to break even without being damaged.

^^^ Dead on buy the whole bracket assembly and it will come with a new pulley. I just bought the pulley and 400 miles later the brackett broke.:rolleyes

I wish my engine had been that clean when we pulled it. In fact, I bet all the 2GNTers who helped me rebuild wish it had been that clean too! I had almost a 1/4" of sludge in some areas. Leaky headgaskets are the suck imo!

Congrats Matt! You have taken the first step into headache land! So i guess you wont be at the meet this weekend? Or at least not with your car? If you need a hand or anything let me know! :thumbsup
