Today on my way home from school it was pouring down rain and dark when suddenly i came into a long, deep spot of water and fast currents, and at one point the water came up over the hood. It took me awhile to get out, kinda scared me, but didn't hydrolock. I had to leave my car at a gas station and came back to pick it up 4 hours later. Aside from a toasted alarm siren, the car starts and runs fine. However, the car is loading up and misfiring now. I'm wondering if the plugs could have injested a bit of water and been fouled. It runs and boosts fine. Anyone have this happen?

holy shit....i cant believe you drove away from that...if it was seriously over the hood, you had to suck up some water.....i would just suggest taking them out anyways and cleaning them up....make sure theres grease on the spark plug tips and on the coil, they might rust or corode if they got water on them..... maybe a plug somewhere is shorting out....it would also be good to just unplug each thing one by one and blow it out with an air nozzle...... hopefully you didnt hurt your computer....that sucks, hope it doesnt hurt in the long run

It wasn't very avoidable, i don't know if you've ever driven down a dim lit street with the windows completely fogged over and rain pouring down. Then you look to your left and right and see nothing but water. you're going right into it.

I'm already in hell when I read some of the arduous questions posted on 2gnt. "I drove my car through 3 feet of water and now it sounds funny" Well, no shit it sounds funny. You've got water everywhere. :shrug what did you expect? You're lucky it runs at all, and you didn't injest much water into the engine.

;( You haven't even bothered looking at it, did you? Maybe your spark plug wells are filled with enough moisture to cause a misfire under little boost? Maybe your coil was submerged. Maybe you've got just enough water down in your compressor housing to cause the car to run like shit until you hit some boost.

As for being avoidable, you're the dumbass who drove through it, not me. If it had been me, I would have STOPPED when I noticed that my tires were displacing that much water. You can tell, because your hoopty pile of shit you call an automobile doesn't quite go through 2 feet of water as well as it'll go through 2" of water. That's one sign to stop.

Secondly, regardless of conditions, you can see the surface of the road at night, in the rain. Unless you don't have headlights. If you DO have headlights, you'll notice it's typically got a "wet asphalt" look to it. If it doesn't, chances are it's a puddle of questionable depth.

btw you shouldn't drive a car if your windows are all "fogged over" because it makes it hard to see :thumbsup
