Hey guys i am swaping my 95 Eclipse NT engine for the same type of engine. But there is one problem>>>>i dont have the money to pay to have someone esle swap it for me and i dont know how to do it myself! How can i find out how to do it myself or find someone who will do it for cheap$?

where do you live? i love installing engines....but i doubt your close, so i can try to help you through it...theres actually two ways to pull the engine, some prefer one, some prefer the other..... the one way is to seperate the engine and transmission and pull the engine seperately...this involves pulling the underdrive pulley off.... if you leave the engine and tranny together, you wont have to pull it anyways....but if youre going to be getting a new engine, it would probably be smart to change the timing belt while its out which also means taking the underdrive pulley off.... i prefer leaving the tranny in.... you have to disconnect all wires, gas lines, coolant lines, vaccuum, anything attached to the engine..... its not bad if you take your time and you know sort of what youre doing.....you might be able to buy a chilton book at your local autoparts store, they can help too....but i take the "pull it all apart and figure out how to put it back together method".... you can email me with questions at lickscissors@hotmail.com ..... i would suggest having another means of transportation while doing this

its not that hard...like he said. I just rebuilt mine by myself and when I first started I barely knew where the throttle body was.

Just disconnect EVERYTHING from the engine, drain antifreeeze, oil, etc.. and take inspection cover off pass side of tranny. From there you can access one bolt at a time that connects the flexplate to the crank. Then pull. Did I miss anything everyone?

Ohh yeah... remove bolts from motor mounts BEFORE you pull lol

nope im from pa.....but ill be more than happy to help you through this....you can give me a call if you have questions, pm me for my phone number..... like i said...the first thing you have to do is find a place that you can leave your car for about a week..... you're going to need something to pull it out so place it over a suitable hoist or whatever you got....and if you dont have one, buy one....you cant do it without it.... then mark each wire so you know where to put them and disconnect that....get the radiator out of the way and fans and intake..... once all that is disconnected you should try to get that pulley off....disconnect your air conditioning and loop a wire so you can let it hang there....i cant remember if you need to take your alternator off or not, but i think you need to.... next disconnect your exhaust manifold and get it out of the way, ummmm, next disconnect your tranny from the engine....theres a plate that is held on with i think 2 bolts....one of them is connected to a bracket which is connected to the engine...that should help you find the plate....take that off and take the oil pan off.... then disconnect each bolt that bolts to the flywheel, i think theres 4 of them.....you'll need to line it up in neutral, then put the car in gear and take each one out at a time...its annoying.....once that is all off, you need to disconnect the engine to tranny bolts....these are like they say....they connect the engine to the tranny and there's one that goes through the starter...you should also take that off....now support the motor and disconnect the motor mounts...make sure your gas line is disconnected...i almost forgot that.... take a nother check over the whole engine and make sure everything is disconnected, then ply gently between the engine and tranny and hoist the engine up at the same time..... you need to clear the flywheel from the tranny shell, you'll understand when you get there....once its out, youre done....hope this helps...im sure i forgot something, that was just off the top of my head..... make sure you lable all your bolts also, they get easily mixed up...

damn..who needs to buy a manual or take a car to a shop when you've got instructions that detailed...only thing u left out what how many mm eadch bolt is so he wouldnt nned to pull out the entire socket set.

doug, yes, you need to take off the alternator, because i remember me helping you out when you dropped the motor in my talon, you were standing on something in your pit and i was up top trying to wiggle it down to you. i asked you why you had to take the alternator off and you said simply because the motor will not come out with it still attached, or atleast it would be easier without the alternator attached.:thumbsup

ok...how about only pulling out the 10,11,12,14,15,16,17,18,and 19 mm sockets...that covers pretty much every boly you'll be dealing with

45 degree angle with the passenger side up and driver side down. Get a jack underneath the tranny if you need help with adjusting the angle. You can leave alternator and tranny on. Take out radiator and fan. It will be tricky but I did it 3 times in 3 weeks. It is very possible. Just got to get creative with angles and such.

you do need the stupid 13mm for some shit.... i dont know why they do that, but you'll need it

You can do it. Be patient and be safe. We used my car as guinea pig since none of us had ever done a rebuild before and with the help of 2GNT and the overhaul guide there, we got it done and we only had to install the motor twice! :P (Forgot an O-ring. Don't forget the O-ring!

I really wish I had taken better pictures to make a photo write-up, but once you get into it, it's pretty straight forward. If you can:
* drain all your fluids (inlcuding tranny if you're gonna pull those CVs!)
* disconnect AND LABLE all your sensor plugs
* disconnect AND LABLE all your vac lines
...you can see right where you need to go next.

As long as this board is up and running, you can't go wrong. even gilee_8 who ended up just parting the entire car out can attest to how hard people here will try to help you.
