well, all 8 intake valves got bent because the dowell pin on the intake cam got sheared off locking up the cam. pistons hit all valves, bent them keeping all valves open making car unable to start. bottom end is fine. i just dropped the head off to be dissasmbled. now the good news: new plans for the cyl head=stainless valves, pt rockers/lifters, crane valvesprings, and maybe cams if they cant remove the old dowell pin and insert another. so basically, ill have a fully built head. im not too mad about this downtime because the car will be a beast after its running. head was milled to raise the compression even more. for that 10min that i got to drive it, it was faster than ever. i cant wait until i get it running, pics will be posted upon head being assembled!!

yeah, sometimes the shittiest things turn out to be the best....i just painted my car about 3 weeks ago, and got rear ended the other day,.....$1700 worth of damage that i think will cost me $200 to fix.... that means $1500 to turbo!!...hell yeah

That dowell pin would only get lopped off if the came gear bolt wasn't torqued down to 72 ft/lbs.

The Crane cams come with dowell pins already installed. The only thing you will need to do to bolt them on is to swap the magnet for the cam angle sensor. Also, if you are serious about getting your cams set up properly, degree them according to the spec sheet that they send you. If you can't do it yourself, bring the head to someone who can.

hey silvernt the sucky part is alot of those parts are on backorder from crane :thumbsdown but are expected to be released this week. Good luck with all the work and let me know about how long all the work took becuase im getting my head built this winter.

decided to go with a stock replacement, my shop found a stock replacement for $50, i cant beat that, plus theres no point in gettin cams till i start boostin(next summer) as for the ss valves, i got a deal for $200, valvesprings are in the mail(he found a place that had some) i ordered the last set of pt rockers/lifters from howell, also ordered a 160 degree thermostat. he said if he gets all the parts before friday, ittl be done on saturday. all getting done, head dissasembly, cleaning, mild port, valve job, stainless valves, springs, head milling, all for 512.44. he is givin me a deal on alot of the stuff, if he can do the same deal for 2gnters, ill post his contact info. ill find out as soon as its all done.

no, im not payin 1k in labor just to put it on, by now (the 4th time) were quite pros at it.

howell sent u the crane springs????? i've been waiting for weeks for those... he keeps telling me they are on back order... good luck with the head work im getting most of the same things done also.. let me know how it feels..

damn cause i really need them, my engine is making sounds from hell and i can't do any work on it without those. I am getting the eaton lifters and lashers from howell but the crane springs are on b/o. How much is the polishing work they are doing?? i might be interested.
