60638, OK I think i have a problem!

Well i pull out from this gas station tonight and my temp gauge was right in the middle of H and C where it is supposed to be. Well its 39 degrees outside if that matters. I looked at it again about half way home and it had dropped down to almost C. Does anyone know why this did that?

*Edit* Mods can you delete this? im such a nOOb! I searched and found what im lookin for, i used the wrong key words haha

Well from the search i did i would think that the thermostat is stuck open, need to replace it. I think its right there on the front of the motor. Two screws to take out. Need a new thermostat and gasket. Pick a cold day so the radiator hoses dont have a lot of pressure in them. Also keep rags around because it'll get messy lol.

Well I have sort of the same problem. It was really cold out this morning and The car warmed up to normal operating temp and when I put the heater/defroster on the temp gauge started to rise and it was only cold air coming out. At one point it started to warm up, but then it quickly went back to cold air. Think this is the same thing?

if theres cold air comming through the vents, you thermostat is gone.....if the gauge says cold, and there's still HOT air comming through, then i would think your temperature sensor needs replaced...
