Ive been on reading stuff on this site for over a year, but now I need you guys to help me with something.

I grounded my alternator (or what I thought was my alternator ground) with 4 guage wire and then reconnected my battery and it blew my 120amp alternator fuse.

Is the threaded prong sticking out the back of the alternator the ground or am I really stupid for grounding that? :wary

I have an unorthodox pulley and I was just trying to get some voltage back, but I am lost on how to ground my alternator, please help!!!

That prong is the positive output terminal, grounding that is a bad thing as you've probably noticed. :o

Here's to hoping you didn't damage the alternator. :-)


Edit - Grounding the alternator is normally done through the metal body of the alternator contacting the metal brackets, which contact the metal engine block. If you'd like to run a heavy ground cable, you might try running a cable to one of the bracket bolts. Good luck :thumbsup

dont worry man i did the same thing before....just make sure you replace the fusible link for the alternator choke if its broken, otherwise you are gunna be seriously hurtin
