I took some advice and finally switched out the starter relay...guess what...DIDN'T work!!! x( So here is the story...I'm at my wits end, about ready to take it down to SATAN and get my @$$ ripped by them...


...replaced almost everything...but no luck starting on hot days after it's been driven (I have to wait a few hours)...95ESi also...so far I've replaced...

Starter (added a heat shield)
Starter Relay (switched with the CC relay, then just broke down and bought a brand new one for the starter)
Battery (Blue Top)
Coil (MSD)
Plugs & Wires (wires are MSD, plugs...not sure)

Battery is putting out 13V with everything off...and when I do get it started...it's at like 13.5V (I think this is low, should be 14V?), fuel pump does prime, and all interior stuff comes on, just no noise at all from the starter (I have to sit for a few hours 'til it starts)...I PM'd a few others on here that have/had the same problem...no luck from them yet...

I'm at a loss...any help would be great...if not, thank you for taking the time to at least read this! :thumbsup

Make shure the connections to the terminal are very very very very tight! Try jumpstarting it.

So the starter wont engage at all? Doesnt do anything? A few tests you can try: Get a normal 12 volt test light. Clip the lights lead to ground, and put the probe end on the starter's start wire at the solenoid on the starter. Turn the key to start, and the light should light up. If it does,then its starter related. Now if the light does not light up, get under your driver dash, and now use the test light to probe the starter wire at the key cylinder harness. The harness is covered in black sheething. Probe the starter wire, and if it lights up, but no crank, then its something in between the ignition switch and the starter. If it does not light up, then you have an ignition switch problem.

I have had the same probelm, this is what did it for me: Wiggle the wire at the starter then try and start it. It might take a few times but it works. I eventually got a new connection to the starter and i havent had a problem since.

I just jumper my solinoid wire to my battery. Kicks the starter over ever time..

what do you mean by 'jumper the solinoid wire to the battery'?...just run a new wire from say the +terminal to the start terminal on the starter?

I'm gonna' break down and go by a push button starter thing (like they used in Gone in 60 Sec.) from Sears...maybe that will help me out...

Three wires on the starter: A big +, a big -, and a little wire that activates the solinoid. All the solinoid wire needs is 12V+, and the starter will turn, regardless of anything else. it's a like a big relay. All you have to do is put 12v+ on that wire, and the car will start if the key is in the ON position.

hmmm...I only have 2 wires going to my starter...the batt. cable...and the starter signal wire...

Well, the second (ground) one is actually attached to the upper starter bolt on the bellhousing, not the starter itself. it grounds through that bolts, and the trans case.

The "signal wire" is the one to concern yourself with. Next time the car gets hot and won't start, jumper that wire to your battery. But it'll crank over like nothing.

o.k., bought a hand held push button starter, and what do you know...get out of Sears and it won't start, good I thought...hooked up the new starter...BAM, started like new...turned off the car unhooked the starter...tried to start...nothing...so i hooked up the new starter again...BAM...started again...

So I guess now I'm looking at wires?...I'm gonna' probe the 'Start' wire that goes to the starter, but which one should I check at the starter relay for Volts? I may change out the battery cables too...just in case

You guys have been a lot of help with this, and I soon may have the answer for all!!!
