59773, Bad Engine HELP Posted by Patroklai, Sep-19-03 08:28 PM
i think lots of peeps might have had similar issues with their non turbos but here i go, since i have a couple of mixed symptoms. first of this is a manual, and everytime i'm decompressing (not axel), the engine will knock like crazy.. especially around the 2-3k RPM range. anything above that it will not sound as woubily but still not sound consistent. for some time now, its been getting worse, and my oil levels drop every certain time intervals and need to add a quart to the engine every once in a while. tonight i went out to check the oil levels, and found some "humid" (oil )stains near the bolts that hold t he valve cover to the block, like as if the oil was leaking from the valve gasket, o comming from the head gasket. i was thinking on buying these two parts, but i'm afraid of all the knocking. my car does not chirp in second anymore so i dont know. its embarasing to go near some people and have the engine sound so crappy. any input is greatly appreciated. thanks

The connecting rod bearing need to be replaced immidiately, or your engine will blow. After you put new bearings in, use thicker oil, like 20W-50 from now on.
