How much did you guys spend getting a valve job done. I took my to this machine shop here in town and the guys there told me it would be 60 and hour and it would take 6-8 hours so 360 to 480. Is it just me or is that way to much. Also these guys were asshole muscle car elitests ( if you live in colorado springs don't go to the place on colorado behind carquest.).

Whats reasonable for this kind of work? Is it even worth it for our cars?

Thanks,

Dean.

I know I just had my head machined cause of the blown headgasket, so that alone was $350, maybe a little too much but then again I can't do the work. And this was without new valves or complete valve polish, which was another $100 in labor. :wary So I don't really know if this helps or is a good market price.

Check the prices for BlackDog. they seem in line.

I would be inclined to go through them, more than your local shop.

I have heard that our heads respond well to porting, even though they flow well in stock form. to get the most out of a porting, you would want to upgrade the sorry stock cams. IMO.

I'f your up for shipping it out I would try looking at Koffel's Place 2. A few years back they did a hell of a good job with a neon head that had to deal with scca "stock" class rules for a 24Hr race. just do a surch for B1 heads or Koffel's place to get contact info.
