I need to change my valve cover gasket and spark plug gaskets. I've been getting told by many people the reason why i have oil in cylinders 1 and 4 is because the gaskets are junk. Is this true? Would this also cause some kind of air leak in the valve cover gasket as well? When i'm driving my car whistles, sounds good, but it's not what my car is suppose to do. I notcied it all of the sudden one day on the highway, so i know it's not the intake.

It's cake to change the gaskets. Just take out the bolts around the outside, remove old gaskets, add a little rtv to hold the new gaskets down, then bolt it back down. Just remember not to over-torque the bolts or you'll crack the valve cover.

^^^ like he said, its easy to change the gasket, but are you sure thats where the oil is comming from?....take the spark plug wires out and see if there is oil leaking around there into the spark plug well...if not you have a bigger problem....as of the whistling youre hearing, im stumped....my throttle body whistles, along with my intake.... i dont think the valve cover gasket would do that..but i could be wrong.... its only like $10...and make sure you dont over-tourqe them like he said...ive done that before and made a bigger problem

if you use RTV or some sort of sealant like that make SURE you check the time it has to cure. some take up to 24 hours

just make sure u dont do the whole job then take off drivin and fuck it up :P besides that ^^^ said it better than anyone:

i recently had oil in spark plug well #4, i changed the valve cover gasket and tube seals and there is no more leak, if you pull your plug wires out and their is oil on them CHANGE YOUR TUBE SEALS! Thats what i had to do, its very easy, took under a hour.

Tube seals? Something that i can pick up at any auto part store?

he's just referring the the 4 little gaskets that seal each spark plug well. Just ask for a "valve cover gasket set" and you should get the big gasket for the valve cover, the 4 little ones for the spark plug wells, and maybe even the little half moon thing, but that hardly ever leaks so it's probably not essential to replace.
