i start the car and it warms up, while idling, it will start to run hard, lumpy and what not. then i will bee the boost gauge show the vacumm dropping down.it dosent happen all the time, just when it wants to. and after i drive around for a bit, and let it idle, does it again. almost dies sometimes. i have cel 52 too rich) this cause anything like this?

check ur vaccum lines

cars always have issues when the vac lines are messed, check for kinks....holes, etc. hell....you might just need a throttle body service

throtlebody service eh? it might be the fact that i sealed the trottle body with blue rtv instead of gasket? all the vacumm lines ae fine, i make sure to check those. no need for boost going anywhere but in engine.

if the tb spacer is off, the vac will be off

just replace the tb gasket and i bet thatll fix your issues

Yeah a vacuum leak around the TB will cause weird idle, which as the engine rpm drops will give you lower vacuum.

Also, running too rich can choke your engine out, and the idle will stumble around, and want to die. If you are gettig a rich code your fuel trims are probably off. So I would try vecuum leaks first, then take a lcose look at your tuning.

not to be a hi jacker, but i too am experiencing terribly similar symptoms. i just had a water pump and timing belt job done today. as soon as i start the car and it starts to warm up and idle at the normal rpms, it starts to fumble and jump around. its a really lumpy idle, almost like i have a set of heavy duty cams in, but i don't. the rpms bounce from 700-1000. even the guy that did my job asked me if it always idled like that. the 420a has an idle control doesn't it? like somewhere where you can manualy adjust the idle. i know my old 4g63 n/t did, but i've never had any reason to find it on my 420a, so thats why i don't know where it's at. any advice is appreciated.:thumbsup

Check your timing, sounds like when they retimed the engine after your timing belt service they didn'tget it right.

sounds like a timing problem to me....one of the teeth might be a little off on the cam gears

hmm... like i said, the guy that did it for me relized that it was idling pretty rough. so he should also fix it for free right? he damn well better. what do you guys think? what can i do if he refuses to fix it for free. anyone know of any good barganing points?

lawyer woul be a good bargaining point if he wont fix it
