Well, I am gonna pull the engine to get ready to put in the new one. I am gonna have to do it with a cherry picker. Any tips any of you have to make my life a little bit easier? What to remove first, what to do to the new engine while it is out, etc. Thanks alot guys.

Do a search on removing axles.

Hell, just do a search period, this has been covered quite a bit.

Man, I've been searching, I get a bunch crap about swapping for a 4g63 and all that bull shit. Not trying to be a dick or anything but if you don't feel like responding to the post then just don't.

You'll want to go to Corbin's page to get a write up on how to pull the axles. You don't want to fubar a CV while you're raising and lowering the tranny/engine. There's another method around here that doesn't involve removing them from the hubs, but you might have to PM Dark0ne for that.

Also, drain all your fluids first! Don't forget about the tranny as when you pull those axles, you will drain it whether you wanted to or not at that moment.

After you drain the oil, remove the pan and look towards the tranny. You will see an access panel you can remove 2 bolts to get to the 4 that hold the flex plate to the clutch. Makes it easier to remove the engine without the tranny, but doing this makes it very hard to put engine back in without tranny.

Also, when you go to put it back in, remove the thermostat housing just to be safe. We left mine on and broke it in half when lowering the engine bcak in. I still have to send juan some $$$ for another one. I am just plain lazy and easily distracted.

I removed mine and put it back in fine w/o removing the axle. just remove all the bolts that are on that housing where the clutch is, drain all fluids like he said, remove those 2 covers that cover the clutch/flywheel (where the starter is) and you can easily pull it out.. I'd take off the thermo housing and intake mani if you can.. its alot easier.....also leave the int mani off when puttin it back in.. the hardest part is puttin it back in, but I did it w/in 2 hours.. just gotta be aggressive (not stupid and aggressive, just aggressive) you can hit me up anytime I'm on on aim to help ya out w/ it.. I did all mine by myself, didnt even use a cherry picker to remove it, I did to put it back in though... my name on aol is rawdawgstv.....g'luck..peace
