I have the inserts in my front motor mount. I couldn't do the rear cause I'm ATX. At first, I felt a good difference and I noticed that the motor would not move very much when I put it in gear and when I revved it up. Now it moves alot and this shit just isn't right. The inserts never fit fulley flush in the mount but I didn't have any problems untiol recently. Did my other motor mounts give or something? Also, what would be the downsides of having a solid front and rear on my car other than vibration? I'm considering having mine welded into solid mounts since theres nothing I can do with the rear one anyway but I don't wanna fuck anything up. What do you guys think?

Did you check to see if the mount is still on there properly?

Is it all ATXs that the inserts fit like shit, or is it just yours and mine?
Ima ready to go with a AFX solid front mount. I'm tired of the engine torque.

Do you have the washers installed on the front motor mount? There is suppose to be two large metal washers that help hold the insert in the front mount. If they aren't there, I coud esily see the inserts working their way out and creating slop in the mount.

Michael nailed it. You need those washers in there.

Late model front ATX mounts are a little too fat to get the washers in. I shaved a couple millimeters off the flat side with a band saw, just enough that I could wedge in both washers. I also used a drum sanding dremel bit to deepen the gap between the fingers on the inserted side so it crams farther into the mount.

And yes, all A604/ATX motor mounts are whack. I don't think anyone's gotten a rear insert to work.

I've got the inserts and the washers in. All the bolts are as tight as I can get them. Like I said though, the inserts wouldn't fit all the way flush with the mount, so that also means the washers are not inside of the mount either. I guess this is a problem.

I do think that it moves even more than before I put the inserts in. Something else is wrong other than the inserts not being totally in all the way. So do you guys think that a solid front (or front and rear) would be ok for the car, or would it fuck something up other than my teeth? :-)

If you guys can hang in there for a week or so, i am building my own front solid motor mounts, for MUCH cheaper than the 75.00 AFX front mount...I may design/build sides and rear if there is enough demand for them..stay tuned :)

Nope, nothing to mess up really. Only major drawback is the increased vibration. Benefits include getting rid of wheel hop, and less drive train torquing/flexing, which isnt good. It really gives the car a more solid feel. You can feel the drivetrain and motor, but it feels more solid. The vibration really isnt bad IMO. If you want your car to ride like a Buick, then dont use a solid motor mount :)

you build it and I will pay pronto. I'll even pay to test it. I just have a problem with paying $75 for a simple chunk of metal, so it's nice to think that there will be some other options.
Have you thought of building one that has a small barrel rubber bushing so that resonance is cut down? you know, like a shock mount bushing.

it wont hurt anything, but be prepared for a LOT more vibration and resonance. I'm willing to trade off myself though.

i allready bought the front solid motor mount, but havent installed it. i hate my freakin engine making popping sounds when i rev first gear, its like it pulls the header to the front ans smashes/pulls the downpipe and everything bumps against averything. just sucks.

I'M REALLY interested on a REAR solid mount,
if not, fellas i'm going for the poliurethane mounts, not the inserts.

Those links you posted sell the inserts. Where are you gonna get the polyurethane mounts at?

unless i'm not really understanding that, but i'm totally inclined into making my rear mount a metal one.

my front mount is sloppy, even with the washers in there. its not a really tight fit...

im going to get a solid mount from xtremeRS when he starts makin em...

havent even attempted to do a rear mount at all.
