58438, Safely Reving to 8200rpm

Well i Plan on doing my headgasket this winter. Since my head will be off i was thinking that since i want the AF/X ECU i might as well upgrade. Because i know if i dont one day i wont be paying attention and rev to high. So i made a little list of parts that i think i need to Rev Safly to 8200 RPM.

Crane Springs and Titanium Ratainers
Stainless Valves
PT Lash Adjusters
PT Rockers
Crane #10 Cams

Is thier anything that i am missing. Thats the hole valve train right. I am pretty much getting everything from black dog motor sports. Except the cams ill get them at howell when i get the ecu. But if thiers something missing or something you think i should add let me know

You won't need the stainless steel valve, new valve springs, or retainers to rev to 8200 rpms. The stock components will handle that rpm.

New rockers arms are needed, as the stock ones don't like going that high. And new lifters are really necessary, but are typically a good idea as the new lifter design Chrysler has in the PT cruiser oils better than the ones we have now.

As for cams, if you're staying N/A, then go for the crane #12s. I've got the #10s, they're very nice and help performance, don't get me wrong, but you'll probably want more power than they will give you.

I don't know how the #12s are at idle, but they SHOULD be fine.

I have the 14's which are similar to the 12's except have a split duration for the turbo, but they idle just like stock.

That's exactly why they idle like stock, the lift doesn't cause as much problems as the overlap does.

When in doubt I'm happy with my Crower Stage 2's nice lumpy idle.

Smooth idle? We don't need no stinking smooth idle.

a buddy of mine has crane 16's and his idle is still liveable, I say if your going to spend the money you might as well do it right the first time. I think that if you get 10's your going to end up dissapointed with the performance of them

if the stock springs and such will handle 8200 rpms, then how high could you rev with the things he mentioned? like crower or crane valve springs and retainers, p cruiser lifter/lash rockers, stainless valves? do u HAVE to have cams to rev that high, ro will you still be able to with stock cams just you wont have anywhere near the power you could have?
mainly, how high would you eb able to rev with that stuff?

The stock cams don't have the lift or duration to really take advantage of the higher revs. They open and close too quickly and don't open far enough. You'll see some power improvements, but no where near what you would see with cams.
