I'm already set on buying the Autometer Ultra-Lite series ones (from Summit) a 3 pod pillar and 2 pod instrument cluster (both from PSI)...

I've picked out the Voltmeter, Air/Fuel, and Water Temp...maybe oil pressure too...Good choices??? (so far I just have a AEM CAI and upgraded fuel pump, 255 Walbro)

But I'm not sure wether to get the mechanical or electrical ones...which is better? Pros and cons of each?

obviously I have to get the electrical voltmeter (DUH), but what about the others?

...and if you guys have these in your cars, any pix of them...they sure do look nice on the website!!!

if its going to be in the cabin, get electrical.

you dont want hot fluids spraying into your car if something ever goes wrong.

if you want to take the risk of having fuel and oil running into your cabin, i hear that mechanical gauges are often more accurate and responsive.

my pump just quit one day, I think it may have gotten a little too hot...so why not spend the $95 and just upgrade it?...at least that's what I said...so I did...

I would like a show of hands on who has actually had fluids spray into their car? Or seen first hand fluid sprayed inside a car because of mechanical gauges? Not horror storries passed around the camp fire.

The mechanical gauges are slightly more accurate and react faster than their electrical counterparts.

my friend's turbo prelude had oil all over inside his car cause he had an oil pressure gauge and his windows were cracked and some fuckers pulled the gauge out and oil sprayed in his car..and yes i did see inside his car.

Amend, because the gauge failed and leaked, not because some choad, who ranks lower than dirt on the bottom of my shoe breaks into your car and steals the guage.

seriously i was watching real tv or one of those shows and they had a videotape of this guy in a crash, their mechanical gauges caught fire and made things go from bad to worse.

anywho, i for one don't feel to safe sitting infront of pressurized fluids.

well, when i was first tuning my stage 1 system last august, i had the crappy fuel pressure gauge that HRC gives you on a really long fuel hose that went all the way to the center console and was duct taped there. i had my sister hold it and watch the fuel pressure one night and the line blew up and gas went everywhere. lol... it was pretty funny actually, but she was pissed because she got 93 octane all over her clothes.

luckly, i was less than 500 feet from my house, so i just pulled over, walked home, got a knife and a screw driver, cut the line, and clamped it off. drove home and fixed it up for real.

but that's not a real "gauge". Mike, i think you're right. i haven't really heard of people having problems with fluids going everywhere. personally, i have the autometer ultra-lite eletric fuel and oil pressure gauges, because i'd rather having wires going everywhere then fuel and oil lines.
