58151, Help! Is my HG on the right way? (PICS) Posted by etx, Aug-30-03 08:05 AM
Hey guys, someone posted about thier new motor mixing oil and coolant and it ended up being his hg on backwards. So now I am all worried because I just put it on the only way it seemed to fit on. The valvetrain is all in and its basically ready to drop in, so i dont want to pull it apart just to check it. I looked at the front of the motor and the left side of the HG that sticks out has a large tab, and the right side has 2 small tabs. Can someone please verify this is right? here are some pics!
left side

right side

thanks!

heh. I just remembered I have another motor in the garage and looked at the tabs on that one. It looks the same, and i know the hg is right on there. So someone please tell me if my logic is all wrong here. otherwise, I can sleep tonight knowing I didn't mess that up!

Im pissed, all that work and I made a dumbass mistake like that. All I had left was spark plugs to put in. Now im back to square one. Let's hope monsoons are nice to me on labor day. Thats ironic, I'll be working my ass off on labor day. Well, its better finding out now then finding out the hard way in the middle of rush hour traffic right? I'm glad I found this post, better late then never, man, i regret not asking this forum earlier. Thanks guys.
