i'm fed up with this car. i've changed the thermostat, coolant, and wired the fan fuses together so they both come on and the sonbitch still overheats when i'm in traffic. i had to shut it off today while i was waiting for a light because the needle was past H. i'm gonna drive this thing straight into a tree i swear.

dude. try replacing the 'thin' sensor near the cap area.. its under it. do a compression check. how many miles are on your bad boy? maybe your water pump is no good?

my car went into the danger zone a couple of times just because the radiator cap went bad. it's relatively cheap to replace so i'd check that out.

The thin sensor that he was talking about is the sensor with one single prong sticking out in the thermostat housing. That is the sending unit for the coolant temp gauge. Your coolent temp might possibly be at normal levels, but that sending unit is messed up and causing the gauge to be inaccurate (that happened to me).

If that sensor is bad, do you have to replace the thermostat? Sorry about the stupid questions...I'm just hoping to learn from you guys so that I can start doing some of the work on my car instead of taking it to satan. Thanks!!

if the sensor is bad you dont have to replace the thermostat. i would replace the radiator cap 1st then try the thin sensor.. or do both at the same time. good luck Michael 99gs HRC Stage IV 8-Injector Setup 2GNT Member #32
