I have a spare sitting on the ground covered in trash bags. How would i care for it while it sits there? I've been told to spin the crank every once in a while and to pour in tranny fuild. This was coming from a ford guy, so i'm not sure.

LoL i bought it cause i want to build it up for turbo charging. I am considering VT to build the engine, not selling it to them.

dude.. wd-40.. and dont forget what i said about building and the machine work.. overall you will save money if you do it local.

I have an extra engine (complete), with just a slightly bent rod and cracked piston. Would VT buy my engine from me? Or does someone else need it. Also I've had it for 2 months now and never did anything to rotate it. Do you think its still ok?

Buy some assembly lube and give it a good cote, cylinder walls, oil pssages, crank, etc. Then get an engine bag, should be able to get a hold of one local, if not Summit sells them. Once coated and lubes wrap the engine in the bag and let it sit. When you do the rebuild have it dipped/cleaned and get whatever machine work you want done to it. In the mean time the assembly lube is very thick and should coat it well enough to prevent a good portion of surface rusting.

But yeah, what mike said. Just spray it all down with WD40, waste a whole can if ya want. Make sure you completely cover the cylinder walls, and wrap it up in some trash bags. Don't spin the crank w/o oil.

Michael- Assembly lube is awesome for building an engine, but it doesn't keep well. It's dry moly lube mixed with a light oil. After a few days, the moly drips out, and you're left with light oil. WD40 is cheaper, and gets in all the cracks and pits better.
