lets say i bought howell bottom end kit for 1000$

and i wanna have a machine shop resurface, bore, balance, blueprint, assemble etc etc...

assuming they put the bottom end kit together for me along with the machining....

aprox how much?

1000 + __ = ?

I'm guessing around 2000-3000 depending. Chances are you will end up spending more on misc crap that you will want to replace.

I got the block machined for about $200. No balancing or blueprinting. I did nothing to the head either. :P

You would be surprised how many little things start adding up...

fluids, tool rentals (unless you have them), sealants, lubes, thread lockers...

Don't forget the MLS and the upper gasket set too.

I budgeted $2000 for my rebuild and ended up going over by maybe $500. It's worth it for the experience at the least imo.

Have fun!
