57699, doesnt look good what do u think Posted by python6586, Aug-23-03 03:29 PM
tonight i took my intake off to anodize it with that metalcast stuff but anyway i saw light green run marks down my engine block under hte header, i couldnt see it good so i took my dig cam and stuck it under there n took pics and this is what i got

i'm guessing this isnt normal, last oil change i didnt see anything abnormal in the oil and i looked at the coolant and it looks ok. still nice and green, just dont tell me its the headgasket. btw nothing is dripping from the car.

could be old residue from an old leaky headgasket maybe before you purchased the car, unlees it was bought brand new, or it could be that you have a leaky headgasket or warped head.

well i doubt it was from before i bought the car cuz the car only had like 23000 miles on it and i dont remember seeing it when i bought it. but it has to be coming from where the head/block meet dont u think

u should turn on your car and check it, because it looks kind of old and dried up.

That looks like a sizeable dripping... definately keep an eye on coolant level. whipe the back of the block clean and go for a ride, see if once it's warmed up it start to leak again.

Use a pressure tester to pin point leaks. Mine has 30000 on it and has had a headgasket leak from day one. The dealer says it's not big enough to worry about. It all goes back to the headgaskets being crap on eclipses and neons.

that drip is from the front of the block right under the header. the back looks clean from what i see.and if it was the headgasket would the coolant be really bad or would i just see like little metallic flakes on the top cuz i think i might.

Well about the coolant. There will be a little shimmer to just coolant and water. The other thing is even if the oil/coolant don't mix it could still drip down the front of the block. Also sometimes it's really hard to tell if they are mixing in the early stages of the problem. How long has it been since you added coolant to the car? I bet that last time you added coolant you spilled some right? My guess is that that is coolant you or someone else spilled while trying to add more fluid. Do you have any shops work on your car? It would burn right off that heat shield, and the manifold, but the block will keep the traces.
