57465, HARD startup - HELP! Posted by fadegs, Aug-19-03 07:39 AM
Here's my problem: anytime after I leave my car off for a while (i.e. overnight), I have trouble starting the car. It'll usually crank over for a long time, and feels like it's about to die, but if I let it crank long enough, it'll eventually start. But when it does the car will shake and stutter for a while longer. The rpms will fluctuate between 800 to 1100 then back to 800.
But once the car has started and warmed up, if I were to start it again (even after a few hours later) it starts up fine. No hard startup. No rough idle. Perfectly normal.
Anyone have any ideas of what I should check? Is this a sign of a dying battery?
On another, maybe related, note, I recently changed my spark plugs due to misfiring problems (my car had a CEL 12 and 43) and it seems to have fixed the hesitation problem when accelerating. But the CELs are still there. Do I have to reset the ECU for it to go away, or does it mean the problem still hasn't been fixed?
Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
