57069, Special thanks to EVERYONE here. Tomorrow is the big day.

First just wanna say thanks to everyone, I've learned so much from everyone else's posts on here over the past few months. Also thanks for the answers on some of the posts I'ved made myself.
Next- Tomorrow I attempt to install my motor myself (I'm not very experienced though..its my first time). My friend that was supposed to help me decided to fly down to Florida last weekend; and this weekend is Indy Truck Bash and Import Drags, probably the biggest show in this area other than Pigeon Forge. So I've gotta get it ready quick. Everything is all put together, all Ive got left is to put the motor in place, bolt up the flex plate to the transmission, and plug in the wire harnesses, fuel lines, etc... Sure hope all goes well.

Just in case anyone is interested my mods just done to the motor include: crankscraper, melling oil pump, JE forged pistons .20 over, Eagle extreme connecting rods, Crower Stage2 cams, crower valve springs, AEM adjustable cam gears, AEM V2 CAI, pacesetter headers, some port and polish work on the intake and exhaust side of the head, and valve job(3 angle I believe). I also had titanium retainer clips but it turns out this shop here in indy sold me ones for a 4g63(last time I visit them for parts).

What compression ratio pistons?

As it turns out the valve springs for the 4G63 and 420A are basically the same, Crower even uses the same for both. So the retainers may be the same (depending on valve stem size, and valve keeper dimensions).

Smooth idle? We don't need no stinking smooth idle.

I wouldnt swear to it, but i'm pretty positive the compression was 8.8:1 And yes the valve springs are identical to the 4g63, but the retainers are not quite as tall in ours. It ended up putting A LOT more pressure on the springs when installed than they were suppposed to have. I even called Crower's Tech to make sure and he confirmed all of that for me.

ANd now after spending a few hours on the motor and accomplishing very little, I just want to kick myself in the ass. I couldnt figure out the way the flex plate went on the crank with that little washer type thing...and spent quite some time looking for diagrams of it on the internet and my dsm manual cd. Found nothing. My girlfriend's dad looked at it, flipped it upside down(or so I thought) and the holes *finally* lined up right. Where was he 5 hours ago? Then after I come in here I find a picture I took of the entire assembly before being dismantled and sure enough that's how it goes on!!

Guess tomorrow I'll try to finish everything up

ok another update- wednesday night I kept having problems with the block fitting in right. I think the machine shop gave me back a chevy 350 or something (j/k). I finally gave up and then tried again thursday and it fell right into place w/o any problems. Still had a lot of shit left to do tho, so I didnt have it ready for Indy Truck Bash todayx(
